Now that you know what you need to begin playing golf, now you need to learn how to play. #1 Learn the short shot. Most of your strokes will come within 50 yards of the green. You will spend most of your time hitting with wedges and putters, but you can practice your swing in your back yard or even in your house. Start with hitting some balls into a buckets.
#2 Take lessons. I know you might not want to, but trust me, you will want to take lessons. Don't stop taking them either. This is something you might want to continue even when you think you are at the top of your game. It's always nice to have someone there to tell you what you are doing wrong.
#3 Don't over think. Golfing is supposed to be a way of relaxing and calming yourself down. When starting out, you can't help but think about everything you are doing and what other people around you are doing. Calm down, take a breath, and relax. Just have fun.
